Municipalities are qualified applicants under the Income Tax Act and may apply in conjunction with non-registered charities providing municipal community services such as libraries, museums, etc. 



Applying for Grants
Charitable organizations serving communities in southwestern Alberta (Nanton to Waterton and Grassy Lake to Crowsnest Pass) are invited to apply for a Community Impact Grant.

Eligibility Criteria

The Community Foundation is governed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). To be eligible  to apply for a grant, community organizations must be Qualified Donees, as defined by the CRA. It is very important to ensure that your organization has charitable status as a Qualified Donee. Learn more...

Final Reports

All successful applicants are required to submit a final report to the Community Foundation, within one year of receiving the grant. To view the final report, click here.

The final report now includes a requirement for a grant story lead that can be used in Community Foundation communications. The purpose of this is to work with you organization to collect and develop stories of how our grants are making a difference in our community. View the impact story form.



Recognition of the Foundation

Effective recognition of grants distributed by the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta helps ensure that the broader community is aware of how we support the charitable sector. This awareness helps generate more donations and in turn, more grants to community organizations like yours.

Appropriate recognition can include :

  • use of the foundation's name and logo on all printed materials
  • creating a link to the foundation website from your organization's website
  • commemorative signage at events
  • acknowledgment of support in interviews, presentations or reports about the project
